As we know, yesternight featured the unveiling of the long-anticipated iPhone 14 series at the Apple event. The new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max experience outstanding changes from their designer saying goodbye to the notch, and welcoming a dynamic island look.
The revised TrueDepth camera unit for Face ID, selfies, and video calls is now housed in a small pill-shaped screen cutout in its place. Apple created Dynamic Island, a system of shifting alerts and notifications, to make use of the cutout rather than disregard it. Despite the odd moniker, the feature is interesting and stylish in person.
The New Rich and Delightful Way to Interact, Dynamic Island
Speaking on why the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max received a new design, at Apple”s launch event, the mobile brand pointed out that:
“Our goal was to design a space that clearly and consistently surfaces alerts and background activity in a rich and delightful way,” Apple said, “When you receive an alert, the Dynamic Island will notify you.”
Without drawing your attention away from the program you’re using, this function is intended to deliver fresh information. In one instance, a user can see from Dynamic Island that their Lyft ride would arrive in two minutes, saving them the trouble of leaving their text message.
Another usage for Dynamic Island is to display the charge level of your AirPods when they are connected. Compared to a cluttered banner notification, it is a little more elegant.
Apple isn’t simply giving the notch a use; rather than making an effort to hide it, it is making the notch more noticeable. The notch will appear to grow when you receive a notice in the Dynamic Island, pushing the ovular black cutout further out on the screen.
