Back in 2021, the tech giant introduced the Galaxy A series Fun Mode on its devices as part of its commitment to offer users around the world more engaging and localized experiences. Users of the Galaxy A series can use Fun Mode to snap photos and videos via the built-in camera app while using silly, eccentric lenses to turn any occasion into wacky, entertaining entertainment that can be shared with friends or uploaded to social media.

Samsung – Snapchat Alliance

The idea behind the Galaxy A Series Fun Mode came from Samsung and Snap, who wanted to leverage cutting-edge technology to create fun camera experiences. The Snap Camera Kit, which powers Fun Mode, enables companies and developers to integrate Snap’s augmented reality technology into their applications. Now, devices from the Galaxy F and M series can also use Fun Mode.

To give customers across the globe more interesting and tailored experiences, Samsung and Snap have started collaborating. They first introduced regionally focused AR Lenses in India in 2021, and since then, they have spread to other nations like Germany, Indonesia, Brazil, the Philippines, and Mexico.

In addition to the Galaxy A series, Samsung has expanded its camera capabilities to the Snapchat app on Galaxy flagship devices. This allows users to take photos and videos with higher resolution and cutting-edge features like super night and smooth zoom.

Company’s Reactions

Reacting to the 2.5 billion usage landmarks, Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of Experience Planning Team at Mobile experience Business, Samsung Electronics, said Galaxy users are constantly seeking new ways to express their creativity, and Samsung is constantly innovating to empower them.

“Samsung is constantly innovating to empower users to do more of what they love. That is why we continue to grow our partnership with Snap, one of the biggest and most creative augmented reality platforms, so we can explore further improvements and bring one of the best camera experiences to more users.”

On the other hand, Ben Schwerin, SVP of Content and Partnerships at Snap, pointed out that over 250 million Snapchat users use lenses to interact with augmented reality daily. They are pleased that the Samsung Galaxy community connects these experiences.

“Lenses are the way over 250 million Snapchatters engage with augmented reality every day, and we’re thrilled that these experiences delight and resonate with Samsung Galaxy’s community, “said Ben Schwerin, “Integrating the Camera Kit into Samsung Galaxy’s proprietary camera is an opportunity to collaborate on compelling, local AR experiences and bring them to Galaxy users around the world.”
