A 17-year-old teen, possibly the GTA 6 hacker, has been arrested in Oxfordshire on allegations of breaching, possibly in connection with the recent GTA 6 leak. The huge GTA 6 leak was caused by a series of cyberattacks on Rockstar Games and Uber, and UK authorities have confirmed the arrest of the hacker.

Grand Theft Auto 6’s first-ever footage was published online last weekend due to an unknown hacker who posted over 90 clips of the game in its early stages. There have been conflicting reports about the hacker’s whole haul, with some even claiming that they had stolen the source code of the next GTA game. The hacker had offered the source code for sale, and it later came out that he had scammed the buyers out of a few BTC.

GTA 6 hacker may have been arrested

The London police recently made an announcement on its official Twitter account, saying, “On the evening of Thursday 22 September 2022, the City of London Police arrested a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking, as part of an investigation supported by the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU). He remains in police custody.”

No further information has been revealed other than the fact that the youngster is still being held. However former Reuters writer Matthew Keys claims a source who alleges the arrest has to do with intrusion on Rockstar Games and perhaps Uber and that police are anticipated to provide additional information later, maybe followed by an FBI announcement.

The arrested teen has not yet been charged with any criminal charges, so it’s difficult to draw inferences despite the lack of information. Furthermore, it is unclear if a gang of hackers or a single hacker carried out all attacks.

Though being underaged, the arrested teen could not get a harsh penalty if it turns out that he is the actual hacker. Even yet, a breach and disclosure of this scale will undoubtedly have serious legal consequences. Although we will need to wait before reaching a decision, UK police will look into all recent cyberattacks.
