The Xbox Game Pass revenue for 2021 has been disclosed by authorities for Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE). It has been reported that Microsoft made over $2.9 billion in the previous year only from Xbox Game Pass subscriptions on consoles. The figures exclude revenue from PC Game Pass.

Xbox Game Pass revenue of 2021 contributed 18% of total sales

At the moment, Microsoft is working to have the huge Xbox Activision Blizzard acquisition approved by regulatory agencies worldwide. As a result of these negotiations, significant information that Microsoft normally doesn’t disclose openly with its shareholders is entering the public realm in order to support its legal claims.

Microsoft informed Brazil’s regulatory body Administrative Council for Economic Defense, of this, and as a result, the Xbox Game Pass 2021 revenue figures have been made public.

Tweaktown reports estimate that Microsoft’s Xbox business generated approximately $16.28 billion in total income in 2021, making Xbox Game Pass responsible for roughly $2.9 billion, 18% of that company’s sales during last year. Additionally, Xbox Game Pass received 30% of Microsoft’s $12.581 in total income from games and services in 2021.

However, it should be noted that this number only counts Xbox Game Pass revenue from subscribers for consoles; PC Game Pass data is not included. From Microsoft’s total income for the year 2021, Xbox Game Pass contributed only 1.57 % of that figure.

Additionally, CADE added that, in its opinion, Sony ought to have the other options necessary to continue competing, just like Nintendo does; even the Call of Duty franchise never limits being available anywhere other than Xbox. Though, according to Microsoft, they don’t have any plans to make Call of Duty an Xbox-exclusive game.

The success of the Xbox Game Pass for Microsoft and developers has been the subject of much speculation over the past few years as the platform has gained popularity. Microsoft has been making significant investments in Xbox and PC Game Pass for several years now, and it appears the corporation is now finally seeing eye-catching profitability, as evidenced by the recent report.
