With only 10 days since its release, Overwatch 2 has already attracted 25 million gamers, a number that the first game took 8 months to reach. According to Blizzard, Overwatch 2 achieved the 25 million players milestone in just 10 days, while daily player counts exceeded those of the first game by three times.

Overwatch 2 is the sequel to the successful first title, which debuted in 2016. This time, the franchise took a new direction by becoming free to play across all platforms. It features five teams of five players, each of whom chooses a Hero with special skills and abilities to carry out the match’s goals.

The Daily Player Count for Overwatch 2 has Tripled

Blizzard Entertainment president Mike Ybarra stated, “We’re excited to welcome back the existing Blizzard community while inviting new gamers from all across the world into Overwatch’s dynamic environment. The Overwatch universe has so many opportunities to discover, and we can’t wait for players to discover what the development team is creating for the live game.”

According to a press statement from Blizzard, Overwatch 2 player count has surpassed the 25 million and the previous game’s daily player peak. Although exact figures were withheld, Overwatch 2’s daily player peak was allegedly three times more than that of the first Overwatch.

Blizzard also said that Kiriko (the new support hero) has proven to be a player favorite, with her Kitsune Rush ultimate abilities being utilized over two million times in the game’s first week alone.

Though the Overwatch 2 player count of 25 million is a huge number, it suggests that the revised hero shooter will do well in the future. The game’s debut day was plagued by network problems, resulting in hours-long wait times for players to get in and out of the game as well as several network problems. Despite having a lot of problems in the beginning, Blizzard is happy that Overwatch 2 has reached an incredible milestone.

In addition to revealing the Overwatch 2 player count, Blizzard also said that everyone who logs into the game between October 25 and December 6, which is the end of season one, will earn the epic Cursed Captain Reaper skin and the Health Pack weapon charm for free.
