India’s Reliance Jio-Nokia Deal To Build the World’s Largest 5G Networks

In a bid to offer users one of the most advanced 5G network services, India’s number one mobile operator, Reliance Jio, has revealed today that it has selected Nokia to supply a 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment from its comprehensive AirScale portfolio countrywide in a multi-year deal.

Reliance Jio is India’s top mobile operator and has the world’s greatest RAN footprint.

As part of the Reliance Jio-Nokia Deal agreement, Nokia will provide base stations, high-capacity 5G Massive MIMO antennas, Remote Radio Heads (RRH) that handle several frequency bands, and self-organizing network software. In addition to its current 4G network, Reliance Jio intends to develop a standalone 5G network.

Reliance Jio will be able to offer a cutting-edge 5G services network, including extensive machine-to-machine communication, network slicing, and ultra-low latency. India has always been a market for Nokia. Nokia will serve India’s three biggest mobile operators with this new agreement.

Speaking on the new partnership deal Akash Ambani, Chairman, Chairman Reliance Jio, said the company is committed to continuously investing in the latest network technologies to enhance the experience of all of their customers and also delivered one of the most advanced 5G networks globally.

On the other hand, Pekka Lundmark, the President and CEO at Nokia, stated that with the project, Nokia would introduce millions of people across India to premium 5G services enabled by their industry-leading AirScale portfolio.
