The character limit on Twitter has always been seen as either a benefit or a burden depending on the writer’s skill. However, that could be about to change as Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk has said Twitter will have the ability to do long tweets soon.

Since the time he took over Twitter, he has made several changes to the micro-blogging company including massive layoffs, $8 for blue tick, and advertising, among other features. However, as we just discovered today, he has shared another update stating that the company will soon add long-form text to tweets, further adding that he will end the absurdity of notepad screenshots

In the tweet, he wrote: “Twitter will soon add the ability to attach long-form text to tweets, ending the absurdity of notepad screenshots. Followed by creator monetization for all forms of content.”

Elon Musk did not expand on how long tweets will be once the changes are incorporated. However, it should be noted that the current character limit for a tweet is just 280 words count, which was doubled from 140 words back in 2017.

However, for the other feature, the creator monetization for all forms of content, much has not been revealed about it, but we hope to get some insight soon.

Following his $44 billion purchase of the social media network at the end of last month, Musk has set about making fundamental changes to the way the social media platform operates. One of the main changes was the removal of Twitter Blue verification after it had caused controversy due to the subscription model.

Twitter Blue was suspended after a chaotic wave of fake accounts with the new blue ticks parodied US presidents, well-known dead people, and large companies. Celebrities, government officials, and journalists who are public figures are verified with blue ticks on their accounts and have been for years. The tick aided in preventing abuse and mimicry.
