The well-known MechWarrior series from Piranha Games appears to be getting a new entry soon. The head of Piranha Games revealed in a podcast that a new MechWarrior game is now in development and would be launched on all major platforms, including PC and consoles.
Russ Bullock, the president of Piranha Games, made an appearance on a podcast held by the NoGutsNoGalaxy channel providing information regarding the future of the MechWarrior series. He allegedly states that a new MechWarrior game will probably release in 2025, as development at the company seems to have already gotten off to a strong start.
The new MechWarrior game is claimed to be different from the previous game
The concept of this game would be similar to that of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, however, it will stand alone and not be a sequel or expansion. “It’s not MechWarrior Online 2, it’s more in line with MechWarrior 5, but it’ll be a standalone product. Everyone knows we have DLC 4 coming out for MechWarrior 5, and there is another MechWarrior game in development at Piranha,” Bullock said.
Even if this revelation came very early, the game’s release is not expected to happen until 2025. Additionally, the podcast mentioned that the new MechWarrior game will be available on “all platforms,” which would include consoles and PCs. The announcement for the game will come later, probably in the fall of 2023, in September or something.
Fans will continue to enjoy the current game, even in the coming years. Bullock said that he does not see the ongoing MechWarrior Online ending anytime soon, at least not immediately in the next two years. The game is still sustainable even if its levels of income have significantly dropped since its peak in 2013.
