Due to allegations of copyright infringement, Valve has replaced the CSGO Doodle Lore with Duality skins. The AWP Doodle Lore skin has been completely removed from the game.

The Revolution case, the most recent CS: GO cosmetic box, contained the Doodle Lore skin, which was first introduced on February 9. There were several skins in the Revolution collection that sparked debate besides the Doodle Lore AWP because of the claims that it was copied. It didn’t take long to discover that the well-known designer Vexx had actually created the design used on the Doodle Lore skin.

The CS: GO developers responded quickly by taking the skin off the store and replacing existing Doodle Lore skins with Duality skins. The new AWP Duality also stands out because of its distinctive side designs.

CSGO Doodle Lore skin completely removed to avoid its overpricing

It makes sense that Valve wouldn’t want to unnecessarily lead to a situation where a contentious skin unexpectedly becomes incredibly valued (as seen with the previous one). Thus, CSGO Doodle Lore skin replacement with a different design and name is a good decision for Valve to avoid further DMCA issues. Yet, it would be unfortunate for the players who already owned it.

Valve has dealt with art theft before, so this is nothing new. Similar claims were made over the rare M4A4 Howl skin, however, in that instance, Valve chose to stop the skin’s sale rather than remove it completely.

It is challenging to control how the community’s designers use the art resources available to them, and it is much more challenging to determine whether any part included in the skin was copied from others. Thus it would be unfair to criticize Valve for this, and they immediately responded by replacing the AWP Doodle Lore skins as soon as they discovered it.
