GSC Game World’s upcoming game, STALKER 2, has been targeted by Russian hackers who are threatening to leak gigabytes of game content. The developer is now facing a challenging situation as these hackers threaten to leak more game content if their demands are not met.

The hackers posted their threats and demands on VK.com, a Russian social media platform, claiming that they have a “tremendous amount of content” related to STALKER 2 to leak, including the complete story, descriptions of cinematics, concept art, global maps, and much more. The group has also shared some images allegedly taken from in-development builds of the game, to prove that their threats are real.

The leaked images have raised concerns among the gaming community, as they may spoil the game’s surprises and impact the studio’s sales. Although GSC Game World hasn’t responded to the situation yet, it is obvious that they are in a precarious position. Although STALKER 2’s release schedule is still up in the air, this most recent leak might cause it to be postponed even longer.

They claim that the total volume of the leaked material is calculated in tens of gigabytes. The hacker’s demands include a change in the game developer’s attitude towards Russian and Belarusian players, the return of the Russian localization, and an apology for mistreatment towards players from these countries. They have even demanded that the developer unbans the “NF Star” profile from its Discord server. The group has given the game developers until March 15th to comply with their demands, or face consequences.

STALKER 2 has suffered various difficulties during its development phase, including financial constraints, the coronavirus, and, most recently, the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war. Nonetheless, it appears that the developers are committed to their goal.

It remains to be seen how the STALKER 2 developers will respond to the leaks and demands, and how this will affect the game’s release. While the game’s release date remains uncertain, fans can only hope that the situation is resolved soon and that the game will be worth the wait.
