The popular battle royale game, Battlegrounds Mobile India, faced a sudden ban in India in July 2022 due to data security and privacy concerns. However, according to a report published by News18, the Indian government might be now considering BGMI unban for a limited playtime with certain changes and restrictions.

The Indian government’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) banned BGMI due to its alleged communication with servers located in China, which posed a risk to users’ data security and privacy. Additionally, there were concerns about the game’s addictive nature, which had reportedly led to instances of murder and suicide.

According to sources (as reported by News18), the Indian government has recommended lifting the ban on BGMI, with certain changes made to the original version of the game. The company behind BGMI, Krafton, has reportedly agreed to comply with all rules and regulations set forth by the government.

Blood color change

To make the game more acceptable to a wider audience, the developers of BGMI have reportedly removed all blood and gore from the game. Instead, the default setting will feature no blood at all.

Limited play time after BGMI unban

To address concerns about the addictive nature of the game, after unban players will only be allowed to play BGMI for a limited period of time each day. This restriction aims to prevent players from spending excessive amounts of time playing the game.

Other internal changes and server

Additionally, other internal changes to the game are expected to address other issues and make it safer for Indian users. Apart from the restriction on playtime and the removal of blood and gore, Krafton has also agreed to make other relevant changes to the game, including the server. These changes aim to address concerns about the addictive nature of the game and its potential risks to user data security and privacy.
