Spotify Discontinues Support for Older Versions of the App

Must Read

Spotify has emerged as one of the best song-streaming applications in the last few years. The platforms keep getting updates to enhance the user experience and remove bugs. In a recent development, it has been reported by multiple users that Spotify has stopped supporting the older versions of the application.

In order to make sure all the users comply with the same, Spotify is logging out the users from the older apps, and they are supposed
to re-login.

In addition, if a user tries to re-login, then they get a message that says, ‘This app is restricted to premium users only’ error message. All the Spotify users also got an email from the music streaming organization saying that the users will not be able to use any app version of Spotify for desktop. The steps are being taken to make sure that all the users are able to take leverage of the latest security update and bug fixes.

Nonetheless, most of the users are not in favor of this change as they think that the user interface (UI) of the older version was better than that of the new version. As of now, these users are also planning to cancel their premium membership and even switch to alternative applications.

The change is being introduced for MacOS, Linux, and Android-based devices too. The users who are affected by the same have tried clearing app cache, uninstalling and reinstalling old apps, and even switching their devices off. Still, none of the users were able to successfully use the older version of the Spotify application.

Is there a way out of the situation?

In a report by Piunikaweb, a workaround for the situation has been mentioned. You can try installing the latest version of the application from the official website of Spotify. Apart from that, you are only supposed to install the latest version of the application.

It doesn’t matter if you love the latest user interface or not; the thing is that it is the only option Spotify lovers are left with.
