Over the last few years, Xiaomi has been working extensively on its automobile industry with steady improvement and growth. Just last month, Lei Jun, the CEO, announced that Xiaomi electric cars will see mass production by the first half of 2024. According to him, this will be giving the smartphone goliath a tough timeline for entering a market that has become highly competitive in China.

However, it seems Xiaomi Auto is finally coming to life as the firm announced several high-level job adjustments in its auto sector. According to a foreign media outlet that confirmed the development, the former Magna executive Huang Zhenyu is now in charge of the Xiaomi Auto supply chain apart from previous changes.

Previously, Xiaomi has given professionals from the automobile industry some of the major jobs in the business. Like Jihu Automobiles’s Yu Liguo, as the Vice President, and Hu Zhengnan, the former dean of the Geely Research Institute as a senior consultant among others. Now, let’s take a look at the adjustment.

Xiaomi Auto Welcomes New Experienced Expert

The adjustment sees Huang Zhenyu, the former Vice President as the new general manager of the supply chain reporting to the CEO directly. The supply chain was formerly overseen by veteran Xiaomi employee Li Xiaoshuang.

Xiaomi hired Huang Zhenyu as a general from the auto parts sector. He formerly served as Magna China’s vice president of global supply. Vehicle talent is more required at the helm now that the auto sector is so competitive.

With the relief, Li Xiaoshuang will now concentrate on the marketing business. In the past, Qin Zhifan and Li Xiaoshuang served as general managers of the Xiaomi Group’s division for home appliances. Both are part of Xiaomi Automobile’s 17-person core team. Zhou Yan, the marketing director from GM-Wuling, was previously hired by Xiaomi Motor to answer directly to Lei Jun.

However, shortly after starting work in July, Zhou Lin abruptly resigned. In the end, Xiaomi’s original team was left to handle the bulk of the marketing department’s burden.

Why Xiaomi Named Huang Zhenyu as the New Supply Chain Manager

Xiaomi may have chosen to hire Huang Zhenyu, the supply chain division’s general manager, to guarantee the supply chain’s stability. It is believed that Huang Zhenyu, who had extensive experience in supply chain management, participated in the creation of the first model of the joint venture between Magna and BAIC New Energy during his time there.

As we all know, the brand has made itself exceptional in the mobile sphere with its fascinating and promising devices. Therefore, moving into the auto industry as a greenhorn required expert experience to be outstanding in the sector. Hence, Xiaomi has placed a high value on the supply chain’s reliability coupled with frequently encountered out-of-stock circumstances in the early stages of its mobile brands.
