This makes it stand out against the first-generation Powerwall. Since then, the EV giant has been reportedly working on the third generation – the Powerwall 3.
This April, Electrek reported that the EV manufacturer is preparing to launch the Powerwall 3, as the firm is reported to have received certification for the new product from a handful of electric utilities in the United States of America. While we are still waiting for the official launch, a leak has just revealed that Tesla has begun Powerwall 3 installations.
A TMC forum user, andy92782, who posted pictures of his own installation in southern California, confirms that Tesla has now begun Powerwall 3 installations. The leaker didn’t give any details about the new Powerwall 3 but only shared some pictures of the installation.
Previous reports reveal that Powerwall 3’s objective is to increase the number of installations where a single Powerwall is sufficient, which is not the case at the moment. At the same time, the Powerwall 3 is thought to have 11.5 kW of power, which is a significant improvement over the exciting Powerwall 2.
As we all know, the device was developed to make sure the lights stay on and you can power all your devices in the event of a power outage. Hence, the Powerwall 3 is optimized for ease of installation and high power, which means that a single Powerwall can serve as an uninterruptible power supply for most homes. Even though it is an inch thicker than the previous iteration, it is also smaller overall.
As it stands, Tesla has yet to officially launch the new Powerwall 3, so it is very difficult to get all the specifications.
