Hike Messenger, one of India’s popular instant messaging services, is eyeing to capture its user base with the new service the company is planning to launch. Now Hike made a crucial move to survive against competitor messaging apps like WhatsApp. The Indian messaging app launched Hike 5.0 on Tuesday in New Delhi. The biggest update is Hike Wallet, the mobile payment feature for its more than 10 crores registered users in India. The company partnered with Yes Bank, ahead of its larger multinational rival, WhatsApp.

These new features provide a user-friendly environment for free and instant bank-to-bank transfers through UPI, money transfers via wallet, and recharges from the mobile app, reducing human efforts.

The Hike Messenger founder and CEO Kavin Bharti Mittal said, “Over the last six months, we have been working to bring a brand new experience to our users with one question in mind: How do we take all the things that users love about Hike and make it even better? Hike 5.0 is our most ambitious step in that direction to date…Hike 5.0 is the biggest update we’ve released in the history of Hike.

He also stated, “we’ve worked closely with over 100 of our top hikers to build 5.0. It’s been built by our users for our users. With App themes, Night theme and Magic Selfie Hike 5.0 is packed with some incredibly personal touches that are meant to delight our users. With Hike 5.0 you can personalize your Hike world”.

Hike 5.0 also features a Unified Payment Interface to do transactions. Due to demonetization in India, the country enhanced digital transaction volumes, including credit and/or debit cards, mobile banking and/or m-wallets, and UPI.

The users will be amazed after knowing that Hike Messenger is the first messaging platform in India to launch a payments facility. The story does not end here. Hike 5.0 has not only launched these new features, but also the app size shrinks to 25 MB and also consists of 128-bit SSL encryption which assures the users that the communication is encrypted.
