Instagram is rolling out some updates by adding Mentions, Boomerang, and links to its stories. We can say that Instagram stories are very much similar to that of Snapchat, but now it is taking a step forward and adding something new to its stories.

We can now choose Boomerang to capture clips for Stories. For doing this we just have to swipe right from your feed to access the Stories camera. There will be an option for Boomerang mode under the record button. After selecting the mode simply tap record to shoot the short burst of photos that will play forward and backward in your Story.

Furthermore, the other new additional updates are the Mentions and Links. Mention is nothing but mentioning or tagging anyone in your post by simply writing @ Symbol followed by the username you want to tag. The mentioned person’s username will appear underlined in the story. When that mention is tapped, a pop-up will open, which will take them to that person’s profile.

There is one more facility provided that you’ll get a notification in Instagram Direct if you’re mentioned by someone you follow. And if someone you don’t follow mentions you, a notification will appear in message requests.

The final feature, ‘Links,’ will allow users to attach hyperlinks to individual Instagram stories. But it will only be available for the verified accounts for now. We will get to know a link has been added to a story when we see the words “see more” at the bottom of a story.

The company added links to stories in response to the large number of brands using the feature to promote content there. Adding links to stories means users don’t have to leave the app and it was a question of trying to keep this seamless, linear narrative experience.-said Nathan Sharp, an Instagram product manager.

All these latest updates are now available for iOS, Android, and Windows 10 as well.
