Vivo U1 Launches With 6.2-inch Waterdrop Notch Display and Dual Rear Camera Setup

After teasing the device yesterday without revealing much detail about it, Vivo launched the first handset of the U-series, the Vivo U1, in China today. With dimensions of 155.11×75.09×8.28mm and weighing 163.5 gms. Vivo U1 sports a 6.2-inch LCD HD+ (1520×720 pixels) waterdrop notch fitted display. Surrounded on four sides by very slim bezels, the phone has a screen-to-body ratio of 88.6%, an aspect ratio of 19:9, and a 2.5D curved glass on top.

Under the hood, the U1 is powered by Snapdragon 439 and Adreno 505 graphic. It shall be made available in variants of 3GB and 4GB RAM expandable up to 64 GB via micro SD card, and the third variant of 3GB RAM expandable up to 32 GB. The 8 MP selfie camera up front sports an f/2.0 aperture, while the device’s rear has been equipped with a vertical dual camera setup of 13 MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 2MP secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and LED flash. While snapping shots, users may access features like panorama, beauty mode, portrait mode, and AR stickers.

The Vivo U1 shall run on Android Oreo 8.1 out-of-the-box based Funtouch OS 4.5. It is protected by a rear fingerprint scanner and face recognition. The user may avail the help of the device’s pre-installed Jovi AI assistant. It connects via 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS and receives its power from a 4300 mAh battery.

Launched in shades of Starry Night Black, Aurora, and Aurora Red, the Vivo U1 will be available in China at prices of RMB 799 for the 32GB+3GB RAM variant, RMB 999 for 64GB+3GB RAM, and RMB 1,199 for 64GB+4GB RAM. The device is all set to go on sale this 26th of February in China and has also been listed on Vivo’s official online store. As of now, no information about the device’s global launch or launch in India has been revealed.
