A few of the most popular smartphones in India, the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi A2, and Redmi Y2, have undergone a price cut, according to an announcement by Xiaomi. This comes right after the recent increase in the price of some other flagship devices like the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, and two Mi LED TVs. Xiaomi is also all set to launch Redmi Note 6 Pro on 22nd November 2018; that shall succeed the Redmi Note 5 Pro, one of the flagships that have undergone a price reduction.

Redmi Note 5 Pro with 4GB, RAM+64GB storage has been priced at Rs 13,999 after the recent change, marking a price drop of Rs 1,000. Although the phone had initially launched at Rs 13,999, Xiaomi had hiked the price since then by Rs 1,000 to Rs 14,999. The latest change has brought the device’s price back to where it had started.

The other variant of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, has undergone a similar slash, bringing its price down to Rs 15,999. During festival season sales, Xiaomi had offered a cut of Rs 2,000 on both the variants of the device, putting the prices at Rs 12,999 and Rs 14,999 respectively, making them one of the most competitive offerings in the market.

As far as the Mi A2 is concerned, which also happens to be an Android One phone in Xiaomi’s portfolio, its price has also been reduced by Rs. 1,000 to bring the new price down to Rs 15,999 (the price is for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant). Its 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant’s current price is Rs 18,999; Rs 1,000 lower than the initial price of Rs 19,999.

And finally, Xiaomi’s selfie-focused phone, Redmi Y2, has been priced at Rs 11,999 from Rs 12,999 for the 4GB+64GB variant.

Providing reasons for the price change, Xiaomi has said that it is in-keeping with their policy of not making more than 5% profit on margin on any hardware product; and the price slash is owed to the fact that the company has seen a reduction in the component costs of these devices.

The prices have become effective at 12 noon today on all sales platforms.
