“GATI – Governance with Accountability, Transparency & Innovation”. This was the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the nation on Good Governance, December 25, 2014.

“Citizen-First’ is our mantra, our motto, and our guiding principle. It has been my dream to bring government closer to our citizens so that they become active participants in the governance process.”

The 19th national conference on e-Governance, with the theme “GATI,” aims to provide a platform to share experiences of the states and private sectors in the field of reforms/initiatives undertaken by States/Union Territories to improve public service delivery and make the administration effective, transparent, accountable and citizen-friendly.

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India and the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India, along with the Government of Maharashtra have jointly organized the “19th national Conference on e-Governance (NCeG)” on 21st and 22nd January 2016 at Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Hon. Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri. Nitin Gadkari, Hon. Minister of Communication & Information Technology, Government of India, Dr. Jitendra Singh & Hon. National Conference Paradigms

The main motto is to lay out the vision for the next five to ten years to become the cynosure of transforming India for the next decade. The vision will finish the direction of e-Governance in India and meet the expectations set by the Prime Minister of India.

This vision is aligned to and driven by the PM’s vision for Good Governance, his belief, and the recent call for action on “transformational change” instead of “incremental improvement.”

In contrast, today, the country’s Prime Minister is driving the agenda for e-Governance, looking at the growing impatience of citizens to seek services “inline” or on “single windows.”

For a citizen, it is more convenient if their services can be accessed online-a mode which perhaps today many consider a fundamental right!

With e-Commerce expected to log $100 billion worth of transactions by 2020, the enterprise of the private start-ups would be crucial to realizing the goal of providing end-to-end full transaction-enabled government services the commerce way.

The Trinity of Jandhan, Adhar, and Mobile-JAM, along with SMAC, would drive the delivery of government public services in the next 5 years to enable a Certificate less government to the common man.
