After the launch of the LG G watch and the Moto 360, Android Wear devices from Samsung and HTC are the upcoming devices and will be dubbed ‘Wear’.  The new HTC smartwatch could be known as Wear. This is so because manufacturers want the name to be very simple in order to avoid complications, though it’s not confirmed yet. HTC will launch its “One” Android Wear smartwatch in February 2017 dubbed as HTC Halfbeak.

HTC is mostly known for its smartphones and the Vive VR headset. The Taiwanese company has been rumored to release its own Android Wear smartwatch for some time now, and it looks like it’s becoming more of a reality thanks to a set of leaked photos. The leaked photos of HTC’s Android Wear smartwatch were published online on Weibo and originally reported by TechTastic. This new device is similar to the Moto 360 Sport. The noticeable difference is that HTC’s smartwatch, named “Halfbreak”, doesn’t come with a flat tire design where the bottom part is flat i.e. it uses a 360 X360 display, according to previous reports in October.

There is also an Under Armor logo on the back of the watch that indicates the collaboration between two companies namely UA and the Healthbox platform in 2016. The most striking feature of HTC Halfbreak is that it is able to run the 1.x version of Android Wear, as 2.0 will be launched in a few days.

The smartwatch also appears to have three physical buttons along the side. The silicon band appears to be non-removable and sports a matte black color outside and a red color on its underside.

The report also states that HTC could launch a smartwatch in two variants: Metal and Plastic similar to the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo.

There is no information about the cost and the release date of HTC Halfbeak. Though there is some possibility that we might hear about HTC at Mobile World Congress, next month in Barcelona. We will have to wait for more details until its release.
