There is shocking news published by a Global independent safety firm that the fake Apple charger sold online had failed a basic safety test. The US-based safety company conducted research – and the report shows that chargers sold in eight different countries, including the USA, China, and more, don’t qualify for insulation tests.

The news was uncovered when the test commissioned by the U.K’s trading standards gave the quotation that counterfeit chargers sold online as an “unknown entity” with a request to buy goods from trusted suppliers.

Of the 400 Apple chargers, only 3 were found to have good insulation to protect against electric shocks. The test applied a high voltage to the chargers bought by consumers in several countries. The chief executive of Chartered Trading Standards Institute raised the concern that fake products might lead to security issues and advised to buy products from trusted suppliers.

It might cost a few pounds more, but counterfeit and second-hand goods are an unknown entity that could cost you your home or even your life, or the life of a loved one.

Consequently, the counterfeit is growing up appertain to Amazon and Apple. Amazon approved a worsening counterfeit problem on its website this week, which is already fighting the fake products. And according to the lawsuit filed by Apple, the company is already dealing with its fake power adapters and cables posted on Amazon. Along with that, Apple is going with his own tests and said it found that almost 90 percent of so-called genuine Apple products and accessories it had purchased from Amazon over the last nine months were actually counterfeit.

Amid these concerns, Trading Standards revealed on its press to help customers in the EU spot some fake chargers. There are some precautions to get away from the cheap and fake chargers.

  • Plug pins- plug the charger into the socket, but do not switch it on. If the charger does not stick easily, there is a chance to fault in the pin size. The size should be at least 9.5mm.
  • Marking- Check the CE safety mark and its manufacturer brand name, batch number, and logo.
  • Instructions- The conditions and limitations to use and how to operate the charger safely should be there.
