At the ongoing India Mobile Congress in New Delhi, LG launched the LG K7i entry-level smartphone. This phone possesses a unique feature to assist in controlling mosquito-borne diseases.

The new feature has the name Mosquito Away. It uses an ultrasonic sensor set on the back of the smartphone. Not only that, but it also has the ability to create 30KHz ultrasonic sound waves, which are not audible to us humans. Well, mosquitoes and insects won’t be able to withstand the noise, as it ensures driving them away.
This way, the LG K7i is able to protect the users from mosquito bites. In the event, LG claimed that no harmful chemical would be found in the phone, and neither was used in the manufacturing.

LG K7i is not the first LG device with Mosquito Away

Beforehand, LG launched televisions and air conditioners with the feature Mosquito Away. But, when it comes to smartphones, K7i is the first ever to have ultrasonic technology for mosquito repellence.

Smartphone Specs

As far as specifications are concerned, the K7i sports a 5-inch display with an HD resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The smartphone is driven by an ‘unspecified’ quad-core processor, clocking at 1.4GHz.

Additionally, the processor gets 2GB RAM support, and the smartphone is available with 16GB of in-built flash storage. It supports up to 128GB of memory expansion by a microSD card.

The battery of the K7i has a 2,500 mAh capacity. The phone houses connectivity features such as dual-SIM, 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, v4.2 Bluetooth, 4G VoLTE, and Wi-Fi 802 b/g/n.

Furthermore, the phone packs a fingerprint reader on the rear side. The operating system is Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The rear camera is 8mp, with a front camera of 5mp.

The K7i is available in brown and has a price rate of Rs. 7,990 (~$121). It will soon be available across offline retailers in India.

Last but not least, it showcases an entirely plastic design, having an 8.1mm thickness and weighing 138 grams.

Summary

So far in the industry, LG is establishing itself as the lone bearer of Mosquito Away, this time inducing the same in a smartphone. In case you do not want the feature, swapping the rear cover with a normal counterpart is simple.
