Samsung Pay Launched in India for Doing Transactions With Unique Digital Ecosystem

Samsung Pay, Samsung’s flagship mobile payment service launched to rave reviews in India last week. The CEO of Niti Aayog, Mr. Amitabh Kant gave the best compliments to Samsung Pay.

Mr. Kant commented on Make in India Policy that “This is a unique innovation. I think it will simplify matters. It will help India technologically leapfrog and take India towards digital economy which is PM Modi’s ultimate mission.”

Mr. Sudipta Roy, GM and Group Business Head- consumer cards at ICICI, shared his great experience with Samsung Pay. Mr. Roy said that “I have actually come to Delhi and I have left my wallet back in Mumbai. Due to that all the transactions till today I had done with Samsung phone. I have done 6-7 transactions so far and all of them have worked flawlessly”.

Mr. Rajiv Anand, Executive Director, Axis Bank comments on Samsung Pay by saying that Samsung Pay has user friendly interface that stunned him. Mr. Anand said that “I really love the user experience that Samsung Pay is able to provide. It’s simple, easy to understand and it’s secure”.

Samsung Pay not only did attract banking executives but was also able to seek the attention from Card Networks’ executives.

T. R. Ramachandran, Group Country Manager – India and south Asia at Visa commented that “Something like this, which is convenient and more importantly safe, gives customers a chance to use mobile phones for mobile payments. We think it as one of the vectors to leapfrog the digital payments in the country.”

Samsung Pay has a different but unique digital payment ecosystem by joining hands with different banks and payment gateways. The names of banks that partnered for digital payment are Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Cards and Standard Chartered Bank.

Samsung Pay is currently available on number of Galaxy Smartphone’s namely Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy A5 (2016), Galaxy A7 (2016), Galaxy A5 (2017), and Galaxy A7 (2017).

According to reports, it is believed that in future Samsung Pay will also be available on the Samsung Gear S3 Smartwatch soon. This will ease the task of users that allows them to pay with just the movement of their hand.
