The government of New Zealand is reported to have banned TikTok in the country as the devices are linked to parliament over security concerns.

Reuters reported that New Zealand said on Friday it would ban TikTok due to cybersecurity concerns, as it has access to the country's parliamentary network.

Parliamentary Service Chief Executive told Reuters that the decision was taken after advice from cybersecurity experts and discussions with the government.

"Based on this information, the Service has determined that the risks are not acceptable in the current New Zealand Parliamentary environment,” said Rafael Gonzalez-Montero.

Both New Zealand's defence force and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said on Friday they had already implemented bans on TikTok on work devices.
