Tata Group is set to acquire Wistron's iPhone factory in India, signaling its entry into iPhone assembly.

The deal, valued at over $600 million, is expected to be finalized in August after experiencing delays.

The facility, employing over 10,000 workers, will become the first Indian-owned company to undertake iPhone assembly.

Tata Group will honor Wistron's commitments to ship iPhones worth $1.8 billion from the factory until March 2024.

The acquisition aligns with India's "Make in India" initiative, strengthening the country's role as an electronics supply chain hub.

It highlights Tata Group's ambition to expand its partnership with Apple and diversify into electronics production and e-commerce.
