YouTube announced that its VR app would be available for the Quest when the headset debuts on May 21st. And those who have pre-ordered it will be delighted to know that Google has confirmed it’s bringing YouTube to this headset. The YouTube VR for the Oculus Quest will offer an experience not unlike the one you get with the app on headsets like the Oculus Go and the Samsung Gear VR.

The Quest headset aims to bridge the gap between mobile and PC VR, bringing a higher-end experience to a fully wireless headset at a slightly less eye-popping price. The hope of Facebook’s Oculus and many others in the VR industry is that Quest will help make virtual reality more appealing and accessible for mainstream consumers.

Users will be able to view both conventional 2D videos and 360-degree videos. It usually takes Google a couple of months to release YouTube VR for a new headset, so it’s certainly interesting to note that this is the first time that YouTube VR will be available for a new headset when it starts shipping.

YouTube VR is already available on the Oculus Go, Rift, Samsung Gear VR, Playstation VR, HTC Vive headsets, and Google’s Daydream mobile VR platform. The app first launched in late 2016, and now offers access to more than 1 million VR videos and experiences, according to YouTube.

The Oculus Quest is the standalone headset from the company priced at $399.
