Matt Reeves is willing to put the turbo with ‘The Batman‘. The next Dark Knight movie will not hit theaters until 2021, but filming is supposed to take place later this year or early next year. Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult were the finalists for the role of the new Bruce Wayne, and apparently, we already have a winner.

Finally, the British actor Robert Pattinson will be the new one in charge to interpret to the superhero Batman, in a movement that already had been advanced a few days ago.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. approved an agreement to incorporate the remembered protagonist of the Twilight Saga to the new film titled The Batman, which will be directed by Matt Reeves.

The Londoner was the main candidate to replace Ben Affleck in the role of Bruce Wayne but was competing for side by side with Nicholas Hoult to keep the Knight of the Night costume. During the last hours, the cinematographic producer settled the subject and inclined by Pattinson, that still would not have signed the contract in the absence of small details.

The appointment generated mixed reactions among fans, who highlight the actor’s participation in acclaimed films such as High Life or The Lighthouse after his passage through romantic teen movies.

The news comes with a surprise: Matt Reeves prepares a trilogy of Batman movies, not just one. Everything would start with ‘The Batman’, which will hit theaters on June 25, 2021. At the moment we do not have many more details about these three films, although it is rumored that the villains of the first installment will be the Penguin and Catwoman. Filming will begin, according to rumors, in London.

Robert Pattinson returns to the high-budget films after having carved out a career as an actor in auteur films. This year we have seen him in ‘High Life’ by Claire Denis and it sounds very strong for the awards season thanks to ‘The Lighthouse’, by Robert Eggers, one of the most commented films of the last edition of the Cannes Film Festival. His election as Bruce Wayne is going to be controversial, but remember that so was the Heath Ledger Joker and it ended with an Oscar.
