Instagram to Allow Users to Report Fakes

Must Read

Users can now control what they want on their Instagram feed and stories. Instagram will add up a new feature allowing users to report any kind of misleading or questionable content and the authorities thereafter analyze the data for reliability.

Just like other social media platforms, Instagram will also make their social site more suitable for the users as they introduce the new option of reporting contents. However the reported contents will not be deleted; after further analysis, the distribution of the content will be limited.

To avail the Instagram fact-checker option, users have to click on the ‘three points button’ on the upper right corner of any post. From there, users can choose ‘inappropriate data’ or ‘false information’ to report the content.

According to a report by Poynter, Instagram will not notify who posts reported content about the verification and the result. Tai Nalon, the executive director and co-founder of Aos Fatos in Brazil stated in a Poynter report that Instagram is promoting the fact-checking hod to the community to objectively and didactically show what is wrong.

This new initiative taken by Instagram is getting both positive and negative responses worldwide. However, we can hope that the Instagram fact-checker will secure our browsing experience over social sites in the future.
