Mercedes-Benz unveiled today the Vision EQS, which is an electric sedan concept and which according to Mercedes, will be a “trailblazer” for the entire Mercedes-Benz EQ family. The Vision EQS will have a range of 435 miles and it comes with 350 kW charging. The concept will be the first of its line and it will prepare the base for the upcoming Mercedes electric sedan.

The photos fashioning the car makes the car look surreal, and straight out of a Sci-Fi movie with its sleek design and modern interior. But it is expected that if the car is to make it to production, the team will tone it down a little. Mercedes thinks that the Vision EQS will be a great subject for the carmakers to study and learn from it because, according to the automaker, the car “provides an outlook on a new dimension in sustainable luxury.”

Coming to the interior of the Vision EQS, luxury yachts apparently served as an inspiration for it. Mercedes describes the Vision EQS: “For the first time the entire dashboard blends with the body of the front trim section to form an interior sculpture. With its deep and open spatial architecture, the cockpit of the VISION EQS envelops the occupants like the deck of a boat. The fully integrated, embracing overall sculpture consisting of the combined dashboard, center console, and armrests floats above the generous interior and for the first time gives an outlook on the interiors of future luxury saloons by the brand.”

The dual-motor drivetrain with a 350 kW of power output should enable an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. The automaker is also claiming that the car could go up to 700 km on a single charge owing to its long-lasting battery. They are also claiming that it would take for the car less than 20 minutes for charging the battery up to 80%. Mercedes said in a press release the lithium-ion battery which is proving itself to be the hero of this Vision EQS comes from the Daimler subsidiary ACCUMOTIVE.

Mercedes Vision EQS’s modular system, wheelbase, and track make it an excellent choice for the automakers to develop further based on this concept only.

In its press release, Mercedes-Benz did not state the fact that this EQS will go into production but Mercedes is expected to bring an electric sedan to the market within the next two years.
