OnePlus and Xiaomi users have complained about an extensive battery draining issue after using WhatsApp’s latest update version 2.19.308. Needless to say, a lot of people around the world faced the same issue and voiced their queries and concerns on Reddit, the Official OnePlus Forum and on Google Play Store.
Even though the numbers of complaints are huge, Facebook-owned messaging app, WhatsApp is yet to comment on the issue. After WhatsApp released its latest version 2.19.308 update of the app and the battery draining issue surfaced on the Xiaomi and OnePlus smartphones. In fact, the latest OnePlus 7T users to are facing the same problem along with Android 9 Pie and Android 10 OS users.
One of the common fixes for this kind of issue is to restrict the background use of the specific app, i.e., which is causing the battery to drain. The users were quick to recognize this problem and had applied this restricting the background app to run method but to no avail.
A user on the Google Play Store complained about how the latest version is affecting the batteries yet the users can do nothing about it. Moreover, the smartphone brands whose users are affected have not commented on this issue either. Some clarification either on the smartphone manufacturers’ side or on the messaging app’s side would have put the users’ minds to ease. It is not clear yet as to how long will it take either WhatsApp or smartphone manufacturers to address this update issue.
On other news, with the latest version WhatsApp, it implemented new privacy control to the app. Users now have the power to blacklist any contact to prevent them from adding users to any random groups. A fingerprint lock will make sure the chats remain private and secure from peeking eyes. The new feature is available for both Android and iOS users. WhatsApp will soon release dark mode for the app, and will soon roll out its beta version to the users across the world.
