Microsoft Launches Family Safety App: Now Kids Can Go Online Safely

Must Read

Microsoft has launched its Family Safety app for all Android and iOS users. This application helps users to manage their activity on mobile and to monitor usage time, thereby helping to build healthy digital habits. Earlier, the app had been made available in a limited preview but will now be available to all users. This new Microsoft application can be downloaded from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. The announcement of the development of this app came in March.

This app presents useful features for the family, especially for the kids. Major ones have been discussed below.

  • The app provides info about the digital activity of the user’s family’s. Parents and kids can both view kids’ activity reports like screen time, top websites visited, and the terms kids are searching for online. Reports are sent weekly via email.
  • This enables the user to set device limits across Xbox and Windows. One can set time limits on specific apps or games on Xbox, Windows, and Android for kids.
  • It gives a safe space for the kids to browse online. There is a provision to block inappropriate apps and games. Also, browsing can be set to kid-friendly websites using Microsoft Edge on Xbox, Windows, and Android.
  • Using this app, one can see one’s loved ones on a map with location sharing and save the places they visit most to know where family members are.

Microsoft ensures privacy saying they will not share the users’ location or drive data with insurance companies.
