“BMW is now capable of identifying that you want to return to your original lane after having passed vehicles on country roads and highways. This means that the vehicle will not output a Lane Departure Warning or actively intervene when pulling back into the original lane.”

“The system does not release you from your responsibility to correctly assess feasibility and the traffic situation. There is a risk of accidents. Adjust your driving style to the traffic conditions. Observe surrounding traffic and actively intervene when appropriate.” The press release reads.

The upgrade equally featured steering interventions of Lane Departure Warning when leaving the lane is smoother, as the steering duration and steering forces adapt more to the individual driving situation.

Thus, BMW now aligns itself close to the lane marking that had previously been crossed to ensure that users return to an optimum driving position faster.

Therefore, the first Remote Software Upgrade updates existing functions to meet the latest state-of-the-art technological standards and includes quality enhancements. The new features and functional enhancements in the upgrade are effective for vehicles featuring specific equipment features.
