Back in June this year, Baidu’s first brand conference, “ROBODAY,” was held on the Baidu Metaverse platform Xiyang, featuring the official launch of the first robot concept car – ROBO-01. The concept car features a unique U-shaped steering wheel that adds rich imagination to the presentation of high-level autonomous driving ability.
According to the electric vehicle company, ROBO-01 is set to revolutionize the automobile industry by combining the leading intelligent driving capability powered by Baidu and world-class intelligent driving configurations and a cutting-edge futuristic design.
Design
The front cabin cover has “jump-light” dual lidar, electronic rear-view mirrors, and the tail have an “active lift tail” to actively use the air; the headlights also have Intelligent lamp language mode and custom display graphics, and the overall appearance is extremely sci-fi.
The car includes a 0-gravity seat, and the seat shape design is adequate; the instrument panel design is more radical, combining the instrument panel and the central control screen into one, equipped with a super-sized 3D unbounded integrated large screen to display the vehicle in an all-around manner.
The vehicle’s steering wheel is also unique, resembling the steering wheel of an F1 racing car, and a visual display is integrated into the center. Furthermore, when the vehicle is in autonomous mode, the steering wheel retracts and folds down to make more room for the driver’s seat.
Additionally, it has an automatic driving system with two lidars, 12 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, 5 millimeter-wave radars, and two NVIDIA Orin X chips for intelligent assisted driving. According to officials, the “automotive robot” is capable of L4-level autonomous driving.
Pricing
As per the pricing, Li Yanhong previously stated that Jiddu Auto’s target market is family cars, and the product price is around 200,000 yuan. However, the official also stated that future mass production models would be 90 percent similar to the concept car.
