Kotoamatsukami is a unique ability granted by Shisui’s Mangekyou Sharingan, often hailed as. What sets Kotoamatsukami apart from other Genjutsu techniques is that it doesn’t necessitate direct eye contact for activation. Once the target is visible, Kotoamatsukami does its work.

This was demonstrated in Chapter 524 of the manga and Episode 266 of the anime, where Danzo was shown to have utilized the technique on Mifune despite his eyes being bandaged. Nonetheless, casting Kotoamatsukami is not a task to be taken lightly, as it demands a meticulous level of Chakra control and a thorough understanding of the human psyche, qualities possessed by a few Shinobi, including Shisui.

Furthermore, Shisui’s eyes were also coveted by Obito, who attempted to acquire them for his own purposes. However, Danzo had already taken steps to seal Shisui’s eyes before his death, preventing Obito from obtaining them.

How Itachi used Shisui’s Eye?

To prevent any further conflict and ensure the safety of his people, Shisui entrusted his Mangekyo Sharingan to Itachi Uchiha. Before his untimely demise, Itachi implanted a crow containing Shisui’s Mangekyo Sharingan within Naruto’s body and programmed it with Kotoamatsukami.

This technique was intended to serve as a final safeguard, capable of preventing Sasuke from enacting revenge against the Leaf Village.
