Back in 2021, Huawei sold its first smart cars at its flagship stores across China. The cars, which consist of two models, were sold at 216,800 yuan and 246,800 yuan. The move came after its mainstay smartphone and network gear businesses reel under the impact of US restrictions that cut off its access to high-end chips.

Now, the brand is reportedly building an independent smart car store to sell cars to the world. According to the report, Huawei smart car store is different from the current mobile phone store, and it is dedicated to selling models of the Huawei smart car ecological alliance with the current AITO Wenjie series on sale, as well as the planned cooperative models of Chery, JAC, Jihu and other brands.

Unfortunately, the report did not reveal the location of the Huawei smart car store. But, the method of channel laying involves both new buildings and the extension of existing businesses, but the existing businesses require a sufficiently sizable and separate area for cars. In addition to opening up some quotas to outside investors, Huawei will give preference to hiring from the original investors in mobile phone stores.

Meanwhile, Yu Chengdong, executive director of Huawei, CEO of Terminal BG, and CEO of Smart Car Solutions BU, previously indicated that the present cooperation model between Huawei and automakers has become more and more obvious at the 2023 Future Car Pioneers Conference, which was held on June 16. Huawei and the auto industry, respectively, will contribute to it. Huawei created the models for the two parties’ collaboration, and automakers and Huawei worked together to develop and construct them.

Yu Chengdong further stated that the flagship Wenjie M9 under the AITO Wenjie brand would be formally unveiled in the fourth quarter of 2023 in conjunction with Huawei and Celes. In contrast to earlier models like the Wenjie M5 and Wenjie M7, the Wenjie M9 will be developed from the ground up, which represents a fresh beginning. It’s a mobile smart house, a mobile smart office, and a mobile smart bedroom, among other things.

Along with Wenjie, Huawei built Avita Automobile in partnership with Ningde Times, Changan Automobile, and other producers. Avita Motors announced its subsequent product strategy during the preceding 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, with the aim of releasing four new vehicles in three years. Two new automobiles will be released in 2024, and the quickest new car will debut in the second half of 2023.
