We’ve all been there: a few months after finally getting our hands on the latest and greatest iPhone, it starts having issues. Whether it’s the screen glitching, the phone won’t charge, or we can’t connect to WiFi, let’s face it, even the best technology isn’t without flaws.

In a society where we operate mainly on our phones, whether it’s checking emails, making phone calls, or scrolling social media, our phones are a necessity in our lives.

So what do we do when our iPhone starts acting up?

Read on for a few things you should know about the most common iPhone problems and how to fix them.

Slow Screen

If your iPhone is running slowly, consider freeing up some storage space. To do this, go to Settings, click on General, then go to iPhone Storage. The bar at the top will allow you to see what’s taking up the most space on your iPhone.

iPhones tend to start running slowly when their storage is close to capacity. Click on See All next to the Recommendations section to view Apple’s recommendations for freeing up your storage. Or, to delete an app, simply press and hold on your home screen and click the X in the corner of each app.

Text messages won’t send

If you need help with issues regarding text messages, be sure to check your connectivity. For iMessage, make sure you’re connected to the Internet through Wi-Fi. If your text messages won’t send, make sure you have cellular service as evidenced by the vertical bars in the top right corner of your iPhone.

If you’re still having issues, try a hard reset of your iPhone by simultaneously holding down the Power and the lower volume buttons until the Apple logo appears.

Wi-Fi won’t connect

If you’re having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, try toggling it off and back on again. If that didn’t do the trick, try turning on Airplane Mode for 30 seconds, turning it off, and connecting to Wi-Fi again.

Still having issues? Try a hard reset of your iPhone as mentioned above.

Poor battery life

To take a look at which apps are draining your iPhone battery, go to Settings and then Battery. Scroll down the Battery page and your apps with the highest battery usage will be listed at the top.

In addition to checking your apps, be sure to disable Background App Refresh. This can be done by navigating to Settings, General, then Background App Refresh. You can either disable it from this page entirely or only for a certain app.

Knowing where to start with a solution can save you a lot of time when it comes to iPhone issues. With this list of common iPhone problems and solutions and a little bit of patience, your iPhone will be up and running in no time.
