The honor, previously a sub-grouped company of the Chinese tech giant Huawei, split from its parent company in 2020. After one year of that split, Honor announced on September 17 that the company was partnering with Microsoft. As part of its new mutual goal, both the companies will be working towards building and expanding in the field of Artificial Intelligence and end devices while at the same time focusing on developing forward-looking technology strategies.

George Zhao, CEO of Honor, said during the signing ceremony, “HONOR and Microsoft will continue to strengthen our strategic partnership and develop solutions that can incorporate different software and hardware technologies for various user scenarios. We are confident that together Honor and Microsoft will be able to establish an interconnection between end-devices and the all-scenario ecology to create a new intelligent world for everyone.”

Microsoft is one of the first groups that is working alongside Honor after its split from Huawei. However, all Honor devices use Windows 10 as their official global operating system.

As per this new partnership, one of the main goals would be better integration between Honor smartphones and windows laptops and computers. Honor is all set to host the Honor Smart Life conference on September 26, where the company will debut its MagicBook V 14 with Windows 11 out of the box. This event will be the perfect place to showcase the result of this new partnership.

Honor says this laptop will feature “more advanced capabilities in software and hardware integration”, as well as “targeted customizations and upgrades,” which will maximize the Windows 11 experience for the users.

The Chinese company has officially iterated that the ultimate goal for this new partnership is to support Honor’s “1+8+N” strategy worldwide.  This strategy essentially focuses on AI and smartphones as the core elements, and develops other interconnected products, including but not limited to notebooks, tablets, TVs, headphones, routers, smart screens, wearables, etc.
