Reliance Jio, the Indian mobile network operator is developing a new product called the JioBook. The new product will be based on Qualcomm hardware. Jio’s prototype laptop is using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 (sm6125), an 11nm chipset.

Jio is collaborating with the Chinese Bluebank Communication Technology which lists manufacturing products that run on KaiOS.

The JioBook will have a 1366x 768 resolution display. Bluebank has tested several iterations of the JioBook during development, including a model with 2GB of LPDDR4X RAM paired with 32GB of eMMC storage and later a model with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage.

The laptop may have a mini HDMI connector for video output, support for WiFi over 2.4 and 5GHz frequencies, Bluetooth, a three-axis accelerometer, and a Qualcomm audio chip.

The JioBook is likely to feature the Snapdragon 665. Moreover, the laptop comes preloaded with various Jio applications, such as JioStore, JioMeet, JioPages, and Jio’s ad services.

Interestingly, several apps from Microsoft pre-installed, including Microsoft Teams, Edge, and Office. However, it is not clear if these apps will come with the production hardware on the laptop. We don’t know if these apps will be shipped on production hardware, though.

Although the “JioBook” branding is how the new product appears online, it is not yet confirmed if it will bear that name. However, it will add up to the rest of Reliance Jio, including the JioPhone.

Additionally, the JioBook laptop is supposed to come at a meager price. The laptop from Reliance is still in its developmental phases, and as such, not everything about the laptop has been made public.

It is not clear when the laptop will come to the market or how much it will cost, although it is extremely pocket-friendly.
