We can always decipher who is a true Mario fan when we come across one. They will simply hum the Super Mario Bros. background music constantly, daydream about collecting gold coins and 1-UP mushrooms, and want nothing more than to traverse the Mushroom Kingdom with Luigi, Toad, and Yoshi to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser.

And now it will be “Mario Time” for one full week. The beloved gaming character Mario will accompany you on Google Maps! This happiness and excitement have been spread because of a partnership between Google and Nintendo ahead of Mario Day, March 10. There will be loads of deals and sales on Nintendo games. Alongside, the “mustachioed plumber-turned-racer” will be a constant companion on the streets of Google Maps navigation if you allow Mario to accompany you on your journey.

All you have to do first is, update your app from Google Play or the App Store. Next, simply click on the yellow “?” icon found on the bottom right of your Google Maps app on Android or iOS. Then you will find a prompt to enable Mario Time!

Once enabled, the navigation arrow will be morphed into none other than Mario in his red-go-cart. He’ll be a constant companion wherever you’re driving this week.

Even Google suggested that one can choose to screenshot your route and share it to @GoogleMaps on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #MarioMaps without revealing any personal details, like home or work address. Introducing Mario to Google Maps feels more like a brand advertisement than just a fun trick. Google was asked if it was the case. However, a company spokesperson confirmed that no financial business involved in the deal with Nintendo.

The Mario feature will begin rolling out today – hence be sure to update the latest version of Google Maps in order to enjoy a ride with Mario
