As part of its continuous effort to transform to fully hybrid cars, the Italian luxury sports cars manufacturer and Volkswagen’s subsidiary, Lamborghini, has announced the sold-out of its combustion engine models. The development is confirmed in an interview with the CEO, Stephan Winkelmann published in the WELT newspaper.

“Our internal combustion engine models, such as the Huracan and Urus, were sold out before the end of production,” – Stephan Winkelmann.

Additionally, Winkelmann said in the WELT interview that starting in 2024 and 2025, plug-in hybrid alternatives would take the place of the existing combustion engine versions. He also predicted that by the end of 2025, the hybrid Revuelto model would be totally sold out.

Hence, this marks the end of combustion engine vehicle production for Lamborghini. Recall that in July last year, the auto brand revealed that it will invest at least $2 billion to create a hybrid range by 2024, with ambitions to release a completely electric model by the end of the following year.

Despite the change, Winkelmann stated that Lamborghini had recorded sales the previous year and was aiming for another very good result this year. The luxury automaker’s focus on electric and hybrid vehicles is a reflection of its commitment to sustainability and is consistent with the global movement towards environmentally friendly transportation.

The move by Lamborghini to completely sell off all of its combustion engine vehicles highlights the rising interest in and anticipation for their upcoming hybrid and electric offerings. Customers can anticipate a thrilling blend of performance, luxury, and environmental consciousness in Lamborghini’s planned hybrid and electric vehicles as the business embraces the future of automotive technology.
