Lenovo and NAF conducted a competition called the Lenovo Scholar Network National Mobile App Development. They announced six winners of the Lenovo Fan Favorite. The winners are from Cox Mill High School, Academy of Information Technology, Enloe High School, Academy of Health Sciences, and Lee County High School Academy of Engineering.

Rohit Nemani and Praneeth Arrepu from Cox Mill created an app called ‘Lace Up’. Nemani said, “Nike and other apps tell you the pace, but when I ran for cross country, I wanted to know instantaneous pace while I was running to know if I was going too fast or too slow. We made this app so you can check automatically and it would let you know through headphones.” The app also informs the user when they change their pace and helps them achieve their goals.

Enloe High sophomores Jeffrey Li and Udai Vikr created an app called ‘Respirate’ which will provide both resources and awareness for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. “Pulmonary rehabilitation is relatively expensive as it’s not always covered by healthcare providers,” said Virk, “and many times it’s an outpatient program, so not many people can invest [the time in] it. Respirate incorporates all of the aspects of pulmonary rehabilitation and puts them all into the touch of a screen.” One of the many best features of the app is that it is free and available to Android users.

A trio of students from the Lee County High School created the app called ‘SpeakEZ’, which will deal with glossophobia or the anxiety of public speaking. “By using SpeakEZ, you address your pace, your connotation and you get general tips about your stage presence,” stated Brandon Ramirez. It will help the users deliver a confident and powerful speech.

It goes without saying that every winner is very excited and proud of their achievement.
