Over the years, the Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation, Sony, has been expanding its gaming industry by upholding its technological strength through the latest innovations. Recently, the gaming giant released her investor briefing and the results of the first quarter of the fiscal year.

In the reports, the firm pointed out its current plans, estimates, and strategies, and also discloses that it proposes to invest more in new IPs than before, drop two new live-service games before the end of this fiscal year, and launch PSVR2 with 20+ major first and third-party titles.

However, as we just discovered via a Twitter post from the Tianfeng International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals that in a recent supply chain survey, Sony’s PlayStation VR2 will begin mass production in the second half of 2022, with about 1.5 million pieces estimated for shipment.

According to the Tianfeng International Securities analyst, Sony’s PlayStation VR2 is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2023, but depending on the development progress of related games. Speaking on the PlayStation VR2 components via the tweet, Ming-Chi Kuo pointed out that the upcoming PS VR2 will support over 20+ game titles from first- and third-party at launch and comes with the most notable hardware upgrade using optical modules.

He further maintained that the PS VR2 will adopt six optical modules, four 720P IR cameras, and two eye-tracking cameras, with genius as the leading lens supplier. Goertek (assembly), SDC (OLED panel), and MediaTek (processor) are among other critical suppliers.

Recall that during CES 2022, the gaming giant announced some information about the PlayStation VR2 noting that the PS will be the most powerful VR system in the consumer market. Then, the firm asserted that the PlayStation VR2 will feature an OLED display with support for 4K resolution (2000 x 2,040 pixels per eye), support for 90/120Hz screen refresh rates and HDR options, 110-degree wide-angle field of view, eye-tracking technology, 3D surround sound, and a head-mounted display Vibration and other functions.

Additionally, the upcoming PlayStation VR2 will be used with the PlayStation 5, but the company has yet to reveal important details such as the launch date, pricing, or even photographs of the headset. Therefore, stay connected with TechGenyz for more updates.
