WhatsApp is currently working on a number of updates that will somewhat change some of the existing features and add new features. The latest WhatsApp v2.20.196.8 is still in beta mode for Android, and it provides us with a rough sketch of what to expect from its upcoming feature.
Among the various features that the app would surely introduce, two of them stand out – advanced search mode and multiple device support.
Apparently WhatsApp is working on the ability to let one account run on multiple devices. Several screenshots of this new feature have surfaced online, and in all probability, this new feature would be called ‘Linked Devices’.
The three tiny dots icon on the top right corner of the screen probably triggers the feature. This new feature will let the user use their own WhatsApp account across multiple devices without having to log out of one in use.
Currently, the web version of WhatsApp lets users use their account only when the phone containing the app is connected to the internet. The new feature, it is being speculated, will allow up to four devices to sync at once.
WhatsApp’s ‘Linked Devices’ feature not only guarantees a streamlined chat history, but it would also have to rise to the occasion of syncing data across devices. This will help the users to add a new device, just like the WhatsApp Web version.
It could take some time before this feature is made available to the public. On the other hand, the WhatsApp v2.20.196.8 beta for Android also features UI improvements for advanced search mode. It would allow the users to narrow down their search to photos, videos, links, GIFs, audio, and documents. This feature was first spotted back in April, and is still under-development, and has a long way to go still before it officially makes its appearance.
