On November 2, Xiaomi Smart Life officially announced that the company is taking the concept of smart homes even further, and will soon launch the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock Pro. As per the announcement made on the company’s behalf, the smart door lock will be launched on November 4.
The announcement was accompanied by a poster that sort of introduces its consumers as to what to expect from Xiaomi’s upcoming innovation.
Apparently, the poster posits a promotional slogan that reads, “The front lock is not seen, one step is in place.” The product details listed on the poster indicate the presence of a camera on the lock which might as well be an indication of a facial recognition feature.
As innovative as the idea of a smart door lock at this point may sound, this is not the first smart door lock to be manufactured either by the Chinese tech giant or any other tech company for that matter.
The market is swarming with smart door lock products that support face recognition. For contesting purposes in a market already brimming with such devices, Xiaomi must have added features that will make its new smart door lock stand apart. In all likeliness, Xiaomi will make the addition of the facial recognition feature in its Smart Door Lock Pro.
The Smart Door Lock Pro also supports fingerprint recognition, passwords, and other unlocking methods available. Apparently, the smart door lock comes with added security and safety features that could pick up and identify lock picking and alarming, making it a safe option for its consumers.
More details about the Smart Door Lock Pro, its features, and pricing are yet to be revealed. Xiaomi also has not mentioned as to where the Smart Door Lock Pro will be made available; but as for now, it appears this new innovation will be launched in China only.
