HMD Global Likely to Launch Nokia 7 in January 2018

Latest reveals out of China suggest that HMD Global is ready for globally launching the Nokia 7 in early 2018. The Nokia 7 was officially announced in October and so far remains available in China.

We even received reports that the global variant of the phone will have the model number TA-1041. There is no info revealed on the exact launch date but HMD may host an international event on January 19. Further reports tell us that Nokia 9 will be unveiled as well. It may thusly happen that HMD does the unveiling of both on its global event.

Another debate in the mix is regarding Nokia 7 coming to the Indian markets. Pekka Rantala, the Chief Marketing Officer of HMD, said before that the phone “is designed for Chinese consumers, so currently we have no plans to bring it to India.” But with the global launch, there is likely to be a variant for India as well.

As for the phone’s present availability in China, the consumers have two variants to pick from. The base variant has a price tag of RMB 2,499 or about Rs. 24,443, and its high-end counterpart is priced at RMB 2,699 or about Rs. 26,399.

Recalling the specs, Nokia 7 features 5.2-inch touchscreen display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution at 423 PPI. It packs a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB internal that can be expanded up to 128GB by microSD card. The device measures 141.20 x 71.40 x 7.90 mm.

Regarding the camera, the phone bears a 16MP rear camera and 5MP front shooter. The OS is Android Nougat 7.1.1 and has the backup of a 3,000mAh non-removable battery. Among connectivities supported are GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G, and NFC.
