iQOO, a sub-brand of Vivo, has released its first-ever smartphone, the iQOO Monster, at a product launch conference held on March 1 in Shenzhen, with a powerful technological advancement in the smartphone game. The Vivo iQOO gaming phone’s goal is to pursue the ultimate digital talent for the technophiles, and the mobile phone has been described as “Born and Powerful.”
With a 6.41-inch AMOLED screen that has a resolution of 2340 × 1080, the phone screen has a full-screen water-drop design and offers a 91.7% screen area with a hidden earpiece and a screen fingerprint unlocking scheme.
The middle area of the smartphone has a super running waistline which adds to the streamlined body, rounded 2.5D corner processing, and extremely narrow border.
The phone contains a 3D glass back covers having engraved divergent tracks, which give the effect of different reflection glares. The back of the phone also contains a hidden track LED strip which adds to the coolness of the phone’s sleek “Speed Art” design. The ‘Monster Halo’ at the back lights up, indicating notification alerts.
The phone’s sixth-generation screen fingerprint technology combines a new generation of DSP hardware acceleration algorithms and provides improved unlocking speed and success rate of fingerprint recognition.
The three color options of the phone’s back cover are electro-optical blue, lava orange, and knight black. The former two color options are believed to have been inspired by the color of car lights and volcanic lava, respectively. The black knight version of the Vivo iQOO Monster named the “Bone of the Beast,” has a matte glass design in dark black color and carbon fiber texture overlay, and the slogan “MONSTER INSIDE” in the middle.
Moreover, instead of using the common arc-shaped mid-frame design, the iQOO phone’s middle frame matches the body’s color, officially called “super flatness pressure in the middle of the box.” The iQOO phone adds two non-physical pressure-sensing buttons in the middle frame which would act as the console while playing video games.
Processor and Storage
Operating on the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform and a Funtouch OS, the phone uses a 7nm process technology Kryo 485 CPU core and Adreno 640 GPU which provides a boosted performance at 2.84GHz.
The phone’s storage capacity has four variants: 6GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage, 8 GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, and 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.
The built-in 4000mAh battery is equipped with an ultra-fast flash charge known as ‘Vivo Super FlashCharge’ that can charge the phone at a rate of 44W. The 6GB RAM variant would be charged at the rate of 22.5W fast charge.
Vivo’s laboratory data shows that the new Vivo iQOO gaming phone has the capability to be charged to 50% in 15 minutes, 85% in 30 minutes, and fully charged in 45 minutes, through a Type-C charging cable with L-shape and capsule-shape ends.
Moreover, the Super FlashCharge comprise additional advantages of faster speed, lower temperature rise, and better security, thanks to the usage of a charge pump charging technology with a conversion efficiency of up to 97% which helps reduce heat rise while charging while increasing the charge speed.
The phone also claims to have a built-in Z-axis motor.
The iQOO mobile phone additionally contains a built-in Jovi voice assistant and Multi-Turbo system-level acceleration optimization solution. Not only that the device includes AI Turbo(can use commonly used APP), Center Turbo( can increase the frame rejection rate by 73%), Net Turbo (for Wi-Fi signals and 4G network), Cooling Turbo and Game Turbo, all of which help increase the startup speed by 30 %.
The phone’s ‘Game Box’ has introduced a number of features to enhance the gaming experience by software optimization and maintenance of game stability. The E-sports mode helps optimize background application, performance, and touch screen. The Monster Touch feature is a pressure-sensitive button which can be transformed into a physical button during the chicken game and can ensure simplified operation and single-handed use. The feature of the Monster Halo game light effect will provide visual effects with a rapid flashing of the LED strip of the back cover, during specific scenes while in the game mode, such as multiple kills.
The phone contains a triple rear camera setup, with a 12MP main camera supporting Sony IMX363, a 13MP wide-angle lens (120°) and a 2MP depth-of-field lens, with additional features such as super-backlight mode and super night mode.
