Samsung XCover FieldPro a new robust phone?

Author at TechGenyz Mobile
Samsung Xcover FieldPro

Samsung has released the XCover series recently. The Samsung XCover 4s, among the series, is dust and waterproof phone, designed for extreme conditions. The robust device has a more powerful processor and an improved camera compared to its predecessor. A new trademark application indicates that we can soon expect another product within this robust series.

Samsung XCover FieldPro

On 27 June 2019, Samsung Electronics filed a trademark with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for the name XCover FieldPro.

The application was submitted by Fieldfisher LLP from London, the United Kingdom. This law firm has often been responsible for filing trademarks for Samsung. Earlier this month, Fieldfisher set the name Galaxy Tab Active Pro, a robust tablet that will probably be introduced for IFA 2019.

The trademark for XCover FieldPro is classified as Class 9, with the description; 'smartphones; smartphone cases; wireless headsets for mobile phones. So it's probably a new mobile phone.

Finally, the XCover phones are so robust that an extra case or cover is not required. Also, the name does not seem to refer to headphones. It is possible that Samsung chooses to introduce an extra variant of the recently introduced 4S.

With the name FieldPro, the idea quickly arises that you are dealing with a Pro model. However, it is still completely unclear what specific functions will be involved. It is quite possible that the Samsung XCover FieldPro will also appear on IFA 2019. This annual trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances will start in early September in Berlin.

Samsung has already released an extra model before, think of the XCover 3 Value Edition, for example. However, this robust phone was released one year after the XCover 3. Back then it was mainly a software update. The recently introduced XCover 4s already runs on the Android 9 Pie OS, so it seems unlikely that this is a software variation.
