Samsung announced the Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 last week. The first is the successor to the A50, which was released in February this year. The new A-series smartphone is equipped with a 6.5-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display. The notch has made way for a punch-hole camera, which is positioned centrally in the middle, just like with the high-end phones from Samsung, such as the Note 10 and the expected Galaxy S11.

The camera system has also been updated. The selfie camera has a resolution of 32 megapixels. The f / 2.0 lens is maintained. In addition, the A51 has a quad-camera at the rear. It is the first middle-class smartphone from Samsung with a quadruple-camera.

It has a 48-megapixel f / 2.0 camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5-megapixel depth camera and finally a 5-megapixel macro camera. This is a considerable upgrade compared to the 25MP triple camera from the A50. The macro lens is completely new and makes it possible to take detailed, close-up photos, useful for nature photography, for example when photographing insects or plants.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Camera Features

The new device is powered by an octa-core Exynos 9611 chipset. This processor can be compared with the Snapdragon 675, certainly not the fastest chip, but sufficient for regular use. Multiple memory variants are released with a choice of 4GB / 6GB and 8GB RAM memory. In addition, there is a choice of 64GB and 128GB storage memory, which can be expanded with a microSD memory card.

For the time being, this A-series phone has only been released in Vietnam. Since the Samsung A50 was the best-selling smartphone in Europe in the second quarter of 2019, it is obvious that its successor will also be available in Europe.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 has face detection and an on-screen fingerprint scanner. The A50 also had a fingerprint sensor placed under the screen, but this did not work smoothly. Since then, the Korean manufacturer has rolled out a software update, which means that the sensor delivers better performance.

Furthermore, the device will be equipped with a 4,000 mAh non-removable battery that supports 15W fast charging. This Galaxy smartphone is released in the colors black, white, blue and pink – whereby the color changes with the light.

In Vietnam, the phone is being released for $ 350. What the European price will be is still unknown, the A50 was released in February for € 350. His successor will probably get a suggested retail price between € 350 and € 400.
