Facebook has owned Instagram for a while now, and Instagram had also included shops option in their app. Anyone willing to sell something can create their own handle on Instagram and can list the items up for sale.
It works almost as same as Facebook’s shops; clicking on the item on sale would redirect the user to the seller’s website from which they can purchase the products that they like.
Taking it one step further, Wong M Jane had tweeted that Instagram is apparently working on an update that will suggest products to its users according to their previous search across various online websites. The famous Wong M Jane tweeted about this new feature.
Instagram is calling it “Shops from Facebook” update. The update is very similar to Facebook’s. Instagram had stated that they will use the data available across Facebook products, including Instagram, to make personalized recommendations to its users.
Instagram is already very popular, with the addition of the shopping feature, it proved to be useful to people looking to buy something online. So far there has been almost no complaint regarding Instagram’s shop's feature; rather it has given a few of the small independent businesses enough space to grow and flourish.
With the added new feature of “Shops from Facebook”, Instagram almost entirely alone becomes a one-in-all social media platform. Instagram will recommend handpicked items from the brands that the user follows. The fact that it has already gained over 238K followers says something about its popularity and success.
