Vivo quietly launches its entry-level smartphone the Vivo Y1s in India

Vivo has launched its latest smartphone, the Vivo Y1s in India. The company’s official website lists the smartphone which counts as a launch; however, the official listing forgoes putting a price tag on the smartphone.

As for its specs, the latest offering from Vivo features a 6.22-inch HD+ LCD display that offers an 88.6 percent screen-to-body ratio; additionally, the display also offers 720 x 1520 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone runs on the MediaTek Helio P35 MT6765 SoC.

The smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which could be expanded up to 256 GB through a microSD card slot. The dual-SIM (Nano) Vivo Y1s runs on FunTouch OS 10.5 which is based on Android 10. However, whether the phone would later be compatible with Android 11, is not known.

In a smartphone market dominated and replete with smartphones having dual-or more rear cameras, the Vivo Y1s offers only a single back camera. It features a 13 MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture. As for the selfie camera, it is of 5MP that comes with an f/1.8 aperture. The selfie camera is housed in the water-drop notch of the front screen.

The smartphone runs on a 4030mAh battery and comes with a Micro USB port, GPS, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio jack, and much more. It weighs only 161 grams. As for security, the smartphone supports Face Unlock.

As mentioned above, Vivo has not officially announced the price, but there has been some news that it could be priced at INR. 7990 for the 2GB + 32GB variant.

Another memory variant of the smartphone could be available in the future, but as of now, the availability remains mere speculation. Priced under Rs. 10,000, the Vivo Y1s would be counted as an entry-level headset from the Chinese smartphone giant. Furthermore, the smartphone will be available in two colors: Aurora Blue and Olive Black.
